Yak Gotti Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Battery, Set to Be Released from Prison

After a long and challenging legal battle, Atlanta rapper Yak Gotti is reportedly on the verge of freedom. The rapper, who was initially arrested in May 2022 in connection with the YSL RICO case, has pled guilty to aggravated battery and is now set to be released from prison. His attorney, Bruce Harvey, confirmed the details with XXL, revealing that Gotti is scheduled to walk free today, following a plea deal reached on April 8.
The judge sentenced Yak Gotti to 12 years and nine months, with credit for time already served. After serving his sentence, he will be on five years of supervised release. Harvey also issued a statement, clarifying that all other charges against the rapper have been dismissed, and no further legal actions are pending.

“All his other cases have been dismissed or terminated, and there will be no other prosecutions for any alleged conduct while incarcerated,” the statement reads. “It is the height of irony that Yak was acquitted of all conduct related to his alleged gang and murder charges, and the only conduct for which he has been sentenced is for conduct at the Fulton County Jail—the ‘most dangerous jail in the United States.'”
While Yak Gotti is now free, his probation comes with conditions, including a ban on owning firearms and a restriction on promoting gangs in his music or on social media. This comes after he was hit with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and riot charges in June 2024 related to a jail incident, though he was acquitted of the more serious charges tied to the RICO case in December 2024.
Fans of the rapper will likely be keeping a close eye on his next steps, as he navigates both his legal obligations and his musical career post-incarceration.
