Detroit, MI – Rising rapper Skilla Baby is recovering in hospital after being shot multiple times during a drive-by incident in his hometown.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, the shooting took place in the 8 Mile area, where Skilla was reportedly riding in a black SUV before the vehicle crashed into a nearby building. He sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and grazes to his head and back.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the 25-year-old artist was transported to a local hospital. Sources confirm he is alert and expected to make a full recovery.

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack. Skilla Baby has yet to comment publicly.

The incident comes just weeks after the Detroit native stirred conversation online with his bold take on local hip-hop rankings. In a recent podcast appearance, Skilla remarked that while Eminem holds the numbers, he doesn’t believe the rap legend is widely considered Detroit’s favorite by locals.

“I’m a fan of Eminem,” Skilla said. “But nobody in Detroit is really playing Eminem right now.”

He added that the city has seen many artists briefly take the crown — mentioning names like Tee Grizzley, Sada Baby, Veeze, and Babyface Ray — but pointed out the lack of consistency in holding that top spot.

Skilla later clarified his comments via Instagram, showing love to other Detroit heavyweights such as Big Sean, Dej Loaf, and Kash Doll, while some fans noted omissions like Royce Da 5’9″, Icewear Vezzo, 42 Dugg, and BabyTron.

With this latest turn of events, fans are now rallying around the young rapper, wishing him a speedy recovery.
