Sean Kingston Denied Permission to Perform Before SentencingBy Marisa Mendez — May 7, 2025

Sean Kingston won’t be hitting the stage at Milwaukee’s Summerfest. A judge has denied his request to travel for the concert, keeping him under strict bond conditions as he awaits sentencing for fraud charges.

According to AllHipHop, Kingston’s legal team argued that the one-night show would provide needed income since he’s currently unable to work due to travel restrictions. His lawyer emphasized that Kingston has complied with all bond terms, including GPS tracking, and was willing to submit a full travel plan and stay in contact with his probation officer.

Judge David Leibowitz declined the request without providing any explanation.

Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted in March of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Each charge carries a potential 20-year prison sentence.

The pair were arrested in May 2024 following a raid on Kingston’s Florida home. The investigation stemmed from a lawsuit by Ver Ver Entertainment LLC, which claimed Kingston scammed them out of over $100,000 in luxury electronics.

In exchange for the goods, Kingston allegedly promised promotional videos featuring Justin Bieber. While he made an initial $30,000 payment and agreed to pay $47,000 more, the remaining balance was to be covered through social media promotion—none of which he delivered, according to the suit.

His mother, identified as his “operator, fixer, and accountant,” also has a prior fraud history.
