Playboi Carti Says He Was Banned From the Met Gala

Playboi Carti claims he was banned from this year’s Met Gala.

In an Instagram post, the rapper wrote: “MET GALA BANNED ME FELT LIKE WE GOT KICKED OUT OF PROM BUT WE GOOD [GIO] WITH ME IM A HAPPY MAN FuCK EM.”

Carti didn’t give a reason for the alleged ban, which is especially surprising given his close relationship with A$AP Rocky, who co-chaired this year’s event.

Neither the Met Gala organizers nor Vogue editor Anna Wintour have responded to the claim.

If true, Carti would join the rare few banned from the event—one being current president Donald Trump.

The 2025 Met Gala was also notable for Rihanna revealing her third pregnancy with A$AP Rocky. She arrived late, showcasing her baby bump, while Rocky shared his excitement briefly on the red carpet.

Also at the Gala, André 3000 debuted a surprise EP, 7 Piano Sketches, wearing a red hat and a blue suit with a piano on his back. The instrumental-only project was recorded nearly 10 years ago, and he described it as an emotional “palette cleanser” despite jokingly calling it “the worst rap album in history.”
