Kanye West Backs Drake in UMG Feud: “This Is a Win for All Artists”By Staff Writer | April 18, 2025

Kanye West has taken a surprising turn by publicly siding with Drake in his ongoing legal battle against Universal Music Group (UMG), a move that’s shaking the music industry to its core.

On Thursday, Ye posted a video to social media expressing his excitement about what he views as a monumental moment for musicians worldwide. “This is the biggest victory in music history,” he declared, referencing Drake’s amended defamation lawsuit against the music powerhouse.

In a rare moment of unity, Kanye also signaled a truce with the Toronto rapper. “I’m team Drake, 100%. And team Kendrick too. It’s time we stop fighting each other and aim higher,” he said, hinting at the broader issue of artist exploitation by major labels.

The rapper and producer even linked to Drake’s updated court filing, stating: “This moment is too important. Drake deserves credit for challenging the system.”

Interestingly, Kanye’s show of support comes shortly after he allegedly dissed Drake in a controversial track titled “Heil Hitler” from his forthcoming album WW3. The song includes inflammatory and offensive lyrics, raising eyebrows among fans and critics alike.

Despite the lyrical jab, Kanye had recently been expressing admiration for Drake’s artistry, even calling him inspirational after seeing a clip of the rapper’s home library.

Their turbulent history seems to be taking a new direction as both artists, alongside Kendrick Lamar, appear more focused on confronting industry giants than each other.

Whether this new alliance holds or crumbles under the weight of Ye’s unpredictability remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear — the fight for artist rights just got a major boost.
