JAY-Z Says Rape Allegations Cost Him Nearly $200 Million

JAY-Z is claiming major financial damage—almost $200 million—due to rape allegations made against him by an anonymous woman.

In an updated defamation lawsuit filed against the woman and her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, the rapper alleges the false accusations led to lost business opportunities. He says he missed out on at least $20 million worth of contracts in sports and entertainment, and that the potential losses could have been even greater.

Additionally, JAY-Z says he was denied a $55 million personal credit line and that Roc Nation was turned down for a $115 million loan.

The lawsuit notes that after the accusations became public, some business partners questioned whether they should keep working with Roc Nation, with one even forced to publicly respond to the controversy.

The original accusations—filed by the woman who also named Diddy—claimed the two raped her when she was 13. However, the lawsuit was dropped after inconsistencies were found. In response, JAY-Z filed a defamation suit against both the woman and Buzbee.

The woman has since asked the court to dismiss JAY-Z’s suit, arguing that her claims were made in legal documents and should be legally protected. She also said her NBC interview was based solely on those filings.

Buzbee filed his own motion to dismiss, saying both sides had reached an agreement in February. But JAY-Z’s legal team denies this, calling it a lie and insisting no such deal was made.
