Drake’s Latest Collaborative Effort Reaches Platinum Status

Drake’s most recent album, a joint project titled “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” created in collaboration with PartyNextDoor, has achieved a notable sales landmark in the United States.

Just three months following its release, the album has now been certified platinum, signifying the sale of one million equivalent units. The project initially debuted at the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 chart after its release on Valentine’s Day.

Despite initial sales figures in its debut week falling slightly below some of Drake’s previous album launches, with just under 250,000 units moved, the album has demonstrated considerable longevity and remains within the top five of the chart twelve weeks after its initial release.

The album also produced a successful single, “Nokia,” which climbed to the number two position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, it was unable to reach the top spot, being held back by the widely popular track “Luther” from Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

Despite the recent release and success of “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U,” Drake is reportedly already deeply involved in the creation of a subsequent musical project.

According to Smiley, an artist signed to Drake’s OVO label, Drake was actively working on this new album even during the filming of the music video for “Nokia.”

In a live stream, Smiley recounted witnessing Drake in a highly creative mode, surrounded by producers and recording music during breaks in the video shoot.

Smiley also shared an anecdote about Drake recently leaving a party to dedicate himself to writing music for his new album in a separate room. He described Drake’s intense focus on his craft, even amidst social gatherings.

During a recent online stream with Adin Ross, a controversial internet personality, Drake himself casually announced that he is currently working on a new album. He clarified that this upcoming project will be a solo endeavor, simply stating that it will be exceptional.

As of yet, Drake has not revealed any further details regarding this new project, including its title or anticipated release date.

Despite maintaining a consistent output of music in recent years, this forthcoming album will be Drake’s first solo release since “For All the Dogs” in 2023. While that album achieved significant commercial success, it received a more mixed reception from critics.
