A$AP Rocky Wants to Be the Next James BondBy Sam Moore — Published May 7, 2025

A$AP Rocky seems to be diving deeper into acting and has his sights set on one of Hollywood’s most iconic roles: James Bond.

Speaking with Variety, Rocky shared that working on stunts for his upcoming movie Highest 2 Lowest sparked his interest in action films. He even joked about taking on the role of 007, saying, “I should be the next Black James Bond. I just need a few months to get out of dad mode and hit the gym.”

Aside from action, Rocky expressed interest in family-friendly projects. He hopes to create something original like Pixar’s Soul, saying he wants his children to be proud of what he makes. He mentioned liking internet content like Gracie’s Corner, but criticized Cocomelon, calling it bad for kids.

Interestingly, Rocky also revealed he once auditioned (unsuccessfully) for the role of Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He admitted his performance was weak and praised Donald Glover for doing a better job and resembling the original actor, Billy Dee Williams, more closely.

When asked if he’d try out for Star Wars again, he replied enthusiastically: “Hell, yeah.”

Rocky’s next big screen appearance will be in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, starring alongside Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright. The film hits theaters on August 22 and streams on Apple TV+ starting September 5.
